It was narrated from ‘Abdullah that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “Allah does not send down any disease, but He also sends down the cure for it.”
Sunan Ibn Maajah, Book 31, Hadith 3438
Ultimately, Allah has control over everything. If He withholds a cure from someone, no one can give it to him. If He gives a cure to someone, no one can withhold it from him. Anyone seeking a cure first needs to turn to Allah and ask Him for help. Then they should take whatever means they can to find a cure. With that said, here are some cures and treatments found in the Sunnah of our Messenger Muhammad ﷺ.
The Qur’an
And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.
(Qur’an 17:82)
Black Seed
Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “This blackseed is healing for all diseases but poison.” She said, “What is poison?” The Prophet said, “Death.”
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5363
Black seed comes from a plant known as the Nigella Sativa. It is known to have health benefits like decreasing asthma symptoms, reducing high cholesterol, reducing high blood pressure, and much more (Nall).
Honey
And your Lord inspired to the bee, “Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct. Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].” There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
Qur’an 16:68-69
In the above verses, Allah talks about the origin of honey and its virtue of healing. According to Tafsir Jalalayn, the Prophet ﷺ used to prescribe honey to anyone suffering from stomach pains.
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “My brother has some Abdominal trouble.” The Prophet ﷺ said to him “Let him drink honey.” The man came for the second time and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, ‘Let him drink honey.” He came for the third time and the Prophet ﷺ said, “Let him drink honey.” He returned again and said, “I have done that ‘ The Prophet ﷺ then said, “Allah has said the truth, but your brother’s `Abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey.” So he made him drink honey and he was cured.
Sahih Bukhari 5684
Zamzam
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messsenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best water on the face of the earth is Zamzam water. In it is food for nourishment and healing for illness.”
al-Mu’jam al-Kabīr 11011
Camel Milk
The climate of Medina did not suit some people, so the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered them to follow his shepherd, i.e. his camels, and drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they followed the shepherd that is the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy.
Sahih al-Bukhari 5686
Hijaamah (Cupping)
Jabir bin ‘Abdullah narrated that he paid Al-Muqanna a visit during his illness and said, “I will not leave till he gets cupped, for I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “There is healing in cupping.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 5697
